Report Methodology

The findings are based on a survey conducted online by The Harris Poll from October 14–31, 2022, among 1,001 knowledge workers and 251 business leaders in the U.S. Respondents include employees working full-time at corporations with 150 employees or more and represent a diverse mix of industries and job functions.

Why it Matters

The statistic that 38% of business leaders report that ineffective communication increases costs is significant because it highlights the tangible impact of poor communication within organizations. Inefficient communication can lead to misunderstandings, errors, and delays, all of which can result in wasted time, resources, and ultimately higher expenses. Improving communication strategies and fostering clear and effective dialogue is crucial for businesses to optimize productivity and minimize unnecessary costs.
